Zoe Ball's son, Woody Cook, has shared a touching tribute to his mum after she announced her departure from the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show at the end of December. The 23 year old DJ and reality TV star from The Circle took to social media to share his pride and excitement for Zoe's future following her decision to leave the show.

Alongside a family photo with Zoe, his dad Fatboy Slim, aged 61, and sister Nelly, 14, Woody posted: "Well done Mama on a fabulous stint on Radio 2!" and added: "Here's to more time at home! Excuse the whole family pic can't find enough crackers with @zoetheball. YOU ARE AMAZING. 4AM is a crazy time to get up!" In response, Zoe, 53, affectionately replied to her son's post, saying: "Love you Bear. beyond xxx."

Zoe and Norman Cook, known as Fatboy Slim, were married from 1999 until 2020 and share two children together. Earlier in the week, Zoe made her decision to step down public, also revealing that Scott Mills would take over in the New Year.

Reflecting on her time on the show, Zoe remarked: "After six years of fun times alongside you all on the breakfast show, I've decided it's time to step away from the early alarm call and start a new chapter."

The legendary presenter of Top of the Pops expressed sheer delight at Scott Mills taking over her role, telling her audience: "Scott and I go way back to our Radio 1 days, when he was doing early mornings before me. He's been a close friend for years, and I'm beyond thrilled it's him taking over the Breakfast Show."

Excitedly sharing that hosting breakfast radio has always been Scott's ambition, she said: "Breakfast has always been his dream, and what a year he's had - from racing around the world to his beautiful wedding to Sam. He's not only a blooming brilliant producer but one of the best in radio. I can't wait to tune in on the school run!" The well-known broadcaster is set to leave her position next month, citing the need to "focus on family" as her main reason for stepping down. Zoe comforted her fans by ensuring she’ll still be around, saying: "While I'm stepping away from the Breakfast Show, I'm not disappearing entirely - I'll still be part of the Radio 2 family, with more news in the New Year."

Over on Instagram, Zoe was quick to offer her thanks, posting: "Really touched, thanks for the messages, thrilled for my mates Scott, Trevor, Spoony and Sophie."
