Comedian Chris delivered a classical American smooth routine as Strictly Come Dancing returned to Blackpool.
With Dianne he danced to Canadian-born singer Paul Anka’s Jump, and afterwards punched the air and bounced excitedly after they became the 100th Strictly couple to perform in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom in the North West of England.
Head judge Shirley Ballas told black tie-wearing McCausland he had the “best feet I’ve seen in a long time”, and “didn’t miss a beat”. “If anyone can beat that tonight, I’d be amazed,” Anton Du Beke said. Buswell and McCausland earned 37 points from the judges, as the stand-up comedian’s mother, father and sister watched him in the audience.

After receiving their feedback from the judges, Dianne was overcome with emotion which led to Chris giving her a hug as he supported his dance partner. Earlier this week, Dianne disclosed that she had been under the weather.
In a video shared by Chris and Dianne, he questioned why no video was posted on Monday as usual. To which Dianne replied: “I wasn't very well,” before the Liverpudlian chimed: “I was going to say because we were working really hard.”
The 35-year-old informed Chris: “I wasn't very well on Friday, I wasn't very well Saturday, Sunday was a write-off and Monday I still wasn't very well.” Dianne discussed her ordeal leading up to the previous weekend, revealing she had been battling a stomach bug and had a rough night on Friday, November 8, but felt better by Saturday.
Following their performance on Saturday, the pair were thrilled to learn they had advanced to week nine, set to take place in Blackpool. Dianne expressed her gratitude to Chris for his support during her recent health woes.
She acknowledged his assistance, telling him: “Full marks to you for helping me through it. You did carry me through that.”
