BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Shayne Ward hit by worrying development hours before live show

by · Birmingham Live

BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Shayne Ward has been hit with a brutal blow - just hours before tomorrow's live episode. As the competition intensifies, Shayne - who shot to fame on ITV The X Factor - has been tipped to leave Strictly Come Dancing.

Betting odds suggest he might not be so lucky this time around, posting him as the likely next exit at odds of 6/4. Chad Yeomans, Betway's spokesperson, shares the looming speculation: "Shayne Ward is the 6/4 favourite to be exiting the show this week."

The betting expert went on, saying: "But he has company in the danger zone with Sam, JB, and Wynne following hot on his dancing heels in the elimination betting. Chris McCausland, despite a less-than-stellar performance last week, has evidently won the public's heart as he surges ahead as the firm favourite to clinch the title of Strictly champion."

Last week the judges – Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke – unanimously voted to save Shayne and Nancy while Dr Punam Krishnan and Gorka Marquez were given the boot during the Sunday night results show.

After the results show, Shayne admitted that finding himself in the position left him feeling "gutted". Shayne, 40, and Nancy, 33, will be hoping to have success this weekend as the pair will be dancing their Quickstep to Help! by The Beatles as part of Strictly’s first-ever Icons Week.

The week will require each couple to honour a musical icon with a routine set to their song. Research by MyBettingSites.co.uk found over nearly 20 years, 22 seasons, and nearly 500 episodes, the Quickstep has the best track record.

Performing the routine has led to 157 Quicksteppers going on to dance another week. MyBettingSites.co.uk found the Paso Doble was the second safest style of dance with 132 routines leading to progression to the next round, while the Tango was just behind at 131.
