X Factor star and beloved mum-of-two dies aged 36 just days after first wedding anniversary

by · Birmingham Live

X Factor contestant Stephanie Ternent Reid has died at the age of 36, just days after celebrating her first wedding anniversary. The gifted vocalist left an indelible mark on judges Cheryl Tweedy and Simon Cowell with her incredible performances, and was a beloved mother of two.

Fans remember her astounding appearance at Wembley Arena during her run to Boot Camp on the show, a journey cut short by a producer error that resulted in too many acts at that stage. Besides her memorable TV moments, Stephanie was also a respected receptionist at Hibernian Football Club and the proud owner of her business, Scent With Love.

Renowned within the Edinburgh music circles, she regularly entertained her audience at local gigs and through live-streamed shows. In the wake of this unexpected loss, heartfelt condolences have been extended, including from Hibernian FC.

Julie Reid, Stephanie's mum, expressed her profound sorrow, sharing: "My world came crashing down around me yesterday morning along with a shattered heart broken into a million pieces that can never be repaired."

She continued, describing her deep anguish: "Heartbroken doesn't come close to how I feel since my beautiful precious soul of a girl gained her Angel wings so suddenly," and reflected on the devastating nature of her loss: "Never ever did I think I would have to write a post like this.", reports the Mirror.

"My precious girl, mum doesn't know how to carry on without you but I will do my very best for your two beautiful babies and love and care for them just as you did with every bone in your body."

"You were the most loving kind thoughtful person to grace this earth and I am proud to call you my daughter. Life for me can never ever be the same but I promise your babies will know how amazing and loving their beautiful mummy was."

Brumwish 2024 - buy a gift for a child in need

BrumWish 2024 is Birmingham Live's festive drive to get thousands of gifts to children and young people across our city - among them the homeless, the vulnerable, kids in care, kids who are poorly or struggling, and kids who have little.

There are THREE simple ways to help.

  1. Buy a new gift from the Brumwish 2024 Amazon giftlist. In just a click your donation will be whizzing its way to our volunteers at Edgbaston Stadium.
  2. Donate money to the appeal fund hosted by Thrive Together Birmingham - this will help pay for gifts for kids with specialist needs or specific wishes.
  3. Buy a gift and, even better, rope in friends, neighbours and workmates to do the same, then drop off your pressies at Edgbaston Stadium, Edgbaston Road, B5 7QU on Friday 6th December, 10am - 3pm; Saturday 7th December, 10am - 1pm; or Monday 9th December, 10am - 1pm. Volunteers will be there to help you. Please don't wrap your gifts. You can also drop off by arrangement until Monday 16th December - contact Louise on 07469 979286.

Thanks to our partnership with #Toys4Birmingham, every single gift will find a good home in the loving care of a child living in B&Bs or hotels, hostels or refuges, children receiving support from specialist organisations and charities, and families being supported by children's centres and charities around the city.

Making up the Brumwish and Toys4Birmingham gang are Thrive Together Birmingham, Birmingham Playcare Network, Warwickshire Cricket Foundation (the charitable arm of Warwickshire County Cricket Club), Birmingham Forward Steps and BirminghamLive/Birmingham Mail.

Thank you to Amazon UK and the amazing team at the Sutton Coldfield depot for their support.

Another family member penned: "I cannot put into words how heartbroken I am to have lost my beautiful cousin yesterday. I hope you know how much you were loved by so many people you were the life and soul of the party."

"Life will never be the same without you but we will all give it our best shot for your beautiful children. I love you always. I cannot put into words how heartbroken I am to have lost my beautiful cousin yesterday."

Hibernian Football Club shared a poignant message saying: "Everyone at Hibernian FC is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Stephanie Reid."

They continued in their tribute: "Stephanie was a valued member of the Hibernian FC match day team and was always bubbly, friendly and helpful. She will be sorely missed, and the thoughts of everyone at the Football Club are with her family and friends during this incredibly difficult time."

Stephanie's husband Ryan and their two young children survive her.
