ITV GMB's Susanna Reid's stunned response as Ed Balls makes wife admission live on air

Susanna Reid was visibly taken aback on Good Morning Britain when she remarked to her co-host 'this got out of control' following Ed Ball's candid revelation about his wife. As they returned to the airwaves on Wednesday (November 27) morning, sharing the latest news with viewers, the conversation inevitably turned to the upcoming festive season.

They were joined by fellow presenter Charlotte Hawkins for a discussion on whether or not it’s acceptable to tell someone if you don’t like their gift. Susanna felt strongly about always showing gratitude, but Ed was of the opinion that he can’t hide his true feelings.

During the segment, Ed shared a personal anecdote when his wife Yvette Cooper had been less than thrilled about a dress he had picked out for her. He admitted: "I bought Yvette a dress once and she said honestly, have you got the receipt because I'm taking it straight back."

Susanna responded in shock: "Oh. Umm ok Christmas must be fun at your house."

Ed elaborated: "She said thanks for the thought but I'm never wearing that and I'll have the receipt and take it back."

The conversation took a turn when Susanna queried: "Was it the style or the size that you got wrong? " Ed clarified: "The sizing was 14/16 I think I can't remember. I gabled on the size."

Susanna, adding to the moment, said: "Umm right. You rThiseally did from what I know of Yvette. Right this all got out of control."
