Strictly Come Dancing favourites Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell have disclosed that they've had a particularly challenging week, with the professional dancer battling a secret illness. The 47 year old comedian has made history on the BBC competition as the first blind celebrity to grace the dance floor.

The pair earned an impressive 34 points from the judges for their dance to Instant Karma! (We All Shine On) by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, which included an iconic blackout moment referencing his vision troubles. However, despite maintaining a brave front, Dianne was unwell behind the scenes.

In a video shared on Instagram with a rehearsal update, 35 year old Dianne revealed: "I wasn't very well." She further explained that she hadn't been feeling well on Friday or Saturday, the day of the live show, and described Sunday as a 'right off'.

"Monday I still wasn't very well," she continued, mentioning she had a 'stomach bug'. Chris then asked her: "What's the funny thing?"

He responded: "It's that last week, with all those lifts that we had in that dance on Saturday, I said to you, "Do you know before we go out on Saturday, it'd be really handy if you went to the toilet and you did a massive poo, just to make yourself lighter for me."

As Chris revealed Dianne's bowel issues, they both laughed and he continued: "You're such a genuine soul, such a lovely person, that you spent all Friday night just...' Dianne interjected with 'Loosening my bowels,' causing Chris to burst into laughter.

"Both ends," he added. '"You didn't have a good night, did you? Full marks for you for getting through it," he commended his partner.

Fans also expressed their admiration for Dianne's professionalism, with one posting on Reddit: "The fact that she was spinning around for majority of the dance with a giant smile is very impressive. Truly a professional!"

Another commented: "Not only spinning but she was wearing a fully white outfit while being ill with a stomach bug. I can't imagine." Another added: "Wow. The show must go on really is a way of life for these pros!"

And another Strictly fan wrote: "Glad you're feeling better. Not many could still do what you did on Saturday whilst ill. Hats off to Chris for helping you through it.''
