ITV I'm A Celebrity's Jordan North shares awkward run-in with music legend
by Jamie Brassington, https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/authors/jamie-brassington/, Tianna Corbin · Birmingham LiveRadio star Jordan North was buzzing as he recounted an encounter with a music legend on This Morning. While chatting with hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, the former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! contestant spilled the beans about meeting Chris Martin from Coldplay.
He joined his Capital FM colleagues Chris Stark and Sian Welby to discuss the station's Jingle Bell Ball, a December musical event featuring stars like Becky Hill, Katy Perry, and Tom Grennan, with highlights set to be broadcast on ITV. During the chat, Jordan confessed that meeting Chris Martin left him lost for words.
Cat asked him: "You got a little bit starstruck at one stage, didn't you, Jordan? " Jordan owned up, saying: "Yeah with Chris Martin from Coldplay."
When asked why the singer had such an effect on him, Jordan expressed his deep respect for the band and admitted that despite his years in radio, he had never interviewed Martin before. He candidly shared that their first interview wasn't quite smooth, admitting: "I've been on the radio for years, but I've never actually interviewed him. I interviewed him for the first time, and it wasn't great," as reported by the Express, reports the Mirror.
Cat, intrigued and amused, pressed for details on why the interview might have fallen flat, leading Jordan to reveal: "He's (Chris Martin) not the easiest person to interview."
He quickly made it clear that Chris didn't have any ill intentions, as he explained: "Not in a malicious way! He's very shy, and he doesn't really like doing many interviews. At the end, I thought, 'That's going to need a really good edit! '".
His co-star added their two cents, joking that they wouldn't blame the interviewer, prompting Jordan to say: "No, a bad tradesman never blames his tools or a good one."
But as the interview with the Coldplay lead singer wrapped up, Jordan got more than he bargained for. He shared: "At the end, he went, 'That was a really good interview.'".
Jordan also told the This Morning team about a confession Chris had made regarding his interviewing skills and showed off a gift from him. Over the moon, Jordan boasted of the badge given by Chris.
The Capital DJ disclosed to an impressed Cat that Chris had actually taken it straight off his own shirt for him. Cat responded: "It's like getting the Blue Peter badge from Chris Martin. Approved."
However, Jordan wasn't alone in having a memorable celeb encounter. Sian divulged that Chris might just have the most embarrassing celebrity encounter story of them all.
The This Morning audience were then regaled with a flashback clip of Chris's 2013 chat with Mila Kunis for her movie The Great and Powerful Oz.
In a throwback clip, a young Chris is seen asking Mila about taking on the role of an unattractive character, commenting: "Genuinely, you're hot. So is being a witch a bit different? " Back in the studio, laughter erupted as Cat stated: "You know what's brilliant about it? Is if Richard Curtis wrote a screenplay and it was bumbling presenter, that would be it! " Ben considered the interview a landmark moment, signifying one of his first major experiences. Reacting to this, Chris admitted: "I'm convinced that actually doing that and what it taught me was it is ok to be yourself and yes, I'm bumbling my way through that, but it was something a little bit different."
