BBC Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly rushes to star after wardrobe malfunction in final

by · Birmingham Live

Vito Coppola was left struggling during his first dance in the final of Strictly Come Dancing after his trousers started to fall down. The star had to hold his trousers together after suffering a wardrobe malfunction on the hit BBC show.

Host Tess Daly was quick to spot a problem as Vito and partner Sarah Hadland made their way over to the judges for their feedback after their American Smooth. "Are you ok Vito?" she asked with concern, adding: "We have a wardrobe issue. Are you able to maintain your decency?"

Vito's partner Sarah Hadland came to his rescue as she leaned over him, using her own costume to keep his modesty. Tess added: "That aside - that was absolutely magical. We will never tire of those lifts. Your first dance of the final."

The judges said the costume issue hadn't affected the couple's performance at all. They were blown away.

Head judge Shirley Ballas, who had given the duo tips ahead of the performance, mentioned the incident, saying: "There might have been a trouser malfunction but there was no malfunction with the routine. That was absolutely superb.

"It's kind of extraordinary for me because when I met you for those few hours in the studio, I gave you so many things to think about. And you remembered everything!"

Anton du Beke praised Sarah's dance moves as being 'clean as a whistle'.

Viewers were quick to comment on the moment, with one writing on X: "The camera quickly moving up as soon as Vito lifted up his hand." A second said: "Extra points for Vito for dancing with a wardrobe malfunction."

And a third added: "Vito can’t celebrate because he’ll lose his trousers."
