A BBC Strictly Come Dancing star has faced fierce criticism over his support of Jake Paul in the wake of the Mike Tyson fight. BBC Waterloo Road star Adam Thomas has been slammed by fans for supporting Jake at the AT&T Stadium bout.

Adam, a former ITV Emmerdale and Strictly Come Dancing favourite, congratulated Paul in his victory over boxing legend Iron Mike. “Congrats to my boy Jake Paul last night,” Thomas wrote on Instagram, adding: “Say what you want about this guy... but he knows how to put on a show!”

He continued: “Don’t get me wrong wasn’t the best fight in the world haha but we all tuned it to watch it haha…no one gothurt, wedidn’t have to pay for it and they got payed !! Everyone wins!!” In reply, a fan sniped: “Need to choose your mates better. The blokes a clown,"

Cheekily hitting back at the comment, he quipped: “Can u not talk about my mate like that please.” A second said: “Oh Adam you've gone right down in my estimations!” Thomas said: “Why because I respect someone who works there a**e off ? Haha funny old world isn’t it."

Another said: “Mate I’m a massive fan of you but you're going to get a lot of hate for this. The fight was rigged.” Adam replied: “I couldn’t care less about the hate or if the fight was rigged ahha.” Another said: “’My boy!’ Because you met him once!”

Adam replied: “I know right just thought it would add to the drama haha.” The 58-year-old former heavyweight champion’s lamentable performance in a dull defeat by a unanimous decision elicited disappointment and condemnation as boos rained down from the crowd of more than 72,000 spectators at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

“This is the biggest event,” Paul later boasted. “Over 120 million people on Netflix. We crashed the site.”
