Davina McCall told ITV Coronation Street star troubling ‘secret’ before brain tumour operation
by James Rodger, https://www.facebook.com/jamesrodgerjournalist · Birmingham LiveDavina McCall shared a "troubling" secret with an ITV Coronation Street star when they met for dinner before her brain tumour diagnosis. Davina said she was diagnosed with the condition after being offered a health check-up as part of her menopause advocacy work, and will now be undergoing an operation to remove the 14mm wide tumour.
Her friend Antony Cotton, best known for playing Sean Tully on ITV Coronation Street, has admitted he knew about her health blow before the public did. Antony explained: “On Monday night, before I did GMB on Tuesday morning, I saw Davina who was out having dinner with Michael and their pals.
“Davina came over to my table, I was on my own, and we chatted for a bit, about stuff we’re working on etc. and then after a little while she said quietly, ‘Can I tell you a secret?’ Well, that was the secret. Not secret anymore. I was blindsided by how brilliant she is. She’s a wonder and I love her. Speak on the flip side, she said. Indeed we will.”

In a post on Instagram she said: “I’m posting this. It will be Friday morning, and I’m doing it because a few months ago, I did a menopause talk for a company, and they offered me a health scan in return, which I thought I was going to ace, but it turned out I had a benign brain tumour called a colloid cyst, which is very rare, three in a million.
“And so I slightly put my head in the sand for a while, and then I saw quite a few neuro surgeons. I got lots of opinions, and I realised that I have to get it taken out.” Following her announcement, Dame Denise Lewis replied: “Love you darling. You’ve got this. See you on the other side of the op.” ITV Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden added: “Sending so much love.” Kimberly Wyatt said: “Oh babe, thinking about you – I can only imagine what you must be feeling.
“Keeping you in my heart and on my mind, take it easy lovely one.” BBC Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac described McCall as a “gorgeous woman” and said she was sending “every ounce of love”.
