by · Birmingham Live

Stereophonics drummer Jamie Morrison was rushed to hospital just moments before he was due on stage. The star - who is also drummer for 86TVs - was due to perform at Rescue Rooms, in Nottingham, on Monday, November 25.

But just minutes before doors opened for the 86TVs gig, Jamie fell ill. He remains in hospital and has been told by doctors not to continue with any shows this week.

The band were nearing the end of their 2024 tour and had remaining dates scheduled for Manchester, Bristol, London, Cambridge and Leeds. 86TVs issued a statement to fans and said: "We had quite a dramatic day yesterday when, minutes before doors opened in Nottingham, Jamie was rushed into hospital.

"He is still in there and has been strongly advised by doctors to not attempt to do the shows this week. We are all heartbroken about this – the shows on this run really have been our best ever – but obviously health comes first.

"Please send your love and get wells to one of the best to ever do it." They added: "Huge apologies to anyone who has made plans for these shows, especially with long distance travel.

"We know there are a number of you that have had plans around this for a long time and were planning on sending off this record with us this week." The tour was due to end on December 1, Mirror reports.

It started on November 15 in Germany. Jamie, 41, had been playing with 86TVs, along with members of The Maccabees' Hugo and Felix White and their brother Will.

Fans rushed to send their messages to Jamie, with one saying: "Get well soon Jamie x." Another added: "Oh no. Sending best wishes to Jamie for a speedy recovery and love to you all."

Another fan commented: "Oh my gosh! Terrible news - hope you get well soon." A fourth wrote: "Get well soon Jamie health comes first!"

Jamie has played with Noisettes and Drewford Alabama during his career. He has also released music through his label Ninjas & Wolves under the name Pop Morrison.

He joined Stereophonics in 2012 following his departure from Noisettes. In 2022, he joined 86TVs and the band signed to Parlophone Records last year.

Jamie is set to tour with Stereophonics next year after the band announced a huge UK and Ireland summer tour. The Stadium Anthems tour will kick off in June and run into July.

There will be eight dates, including an appearance at Isle of Wight Festival. It marks Stereophonics' first live dates in three years.

The band will play in Huddersfield's John Smith's Stadium, Dublin St. Anne’s Park, Cork Virgin Media Park, London Finsbury Park, Glasgow Bellahouston Park (as part of Summer Sessions). The run will conclude with a hometown show in Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

Stereophonics are also set to release a new album next year. Frontman Kelly Jones said: "Being on the road again with my best friends, playing all the hits of this band’s catalogue for people in huge outdoor gatherings through the summer of 2025 makes me so excited.

"We should make a new album…oh wait …we already did that! See ya there for more good times…. TUNE!!! TUNE!!! TUNE!!" The band is made up of Kelly Jones on vocals and lead guitar, Richard Jones on bass, Adam Zindani on guitar, Jamie on drums and Tony Kirkham as their touring keyboard player.

The group previously included Stuart Cable and Javier Weyler on drums. Stereophonics have released twelve studio albums, including eight UK number one albums.
