I'm A Celeb's Dec brands Dean McCullough 'passive aggressive' after tense row with Alan Halsall

I'm A Celebrity viewers have threatened to boycott Dean McCullough's Radio 1 show after a tense row erupted between him and Alan Halsall - leading host Dec to call the star 'passive aggressive'. The radio DJ ranted at the Coronation Street star after he woke him up to go and collect wood for the camp's fire on Saturday night's episode of the ITV show.

Trying to wake him softly, Alan said: "Dean mate, its only Al, can you hear me? Sorry mate, listen Jane's gone down to collect wood and someone has to go with her but its only you that's allowed to carry it back up."

After getting no response, Alan added: "Don't fancy it? No? Okay." He then went to help Jane himself before Dean woke up and stomed down to the pair.

Dean then tensely told Alan: "If you're going to wake me up, listen to me, you need to give me a minute. It takes me a coupe of minutes for my contact lenses to get back working again alright, so you don't need to say to me do you not fancy it and turn around and walk away."

He continued angrily as he gripped Alan's shoulders and stood over him: "You listen to me, you need to give me a minute," before Alan interjected: "Trust me I didn't say it how you think I meant it, but if you've took it that way I apologise."

As Dean continued to try and explain, Alan snapped: "I don't think you're going to listen but that's fine. I wasn't having a go at you."

"I didn't think you were having a go at me," Dean fired back. "I didn't get a chance to respond."

Alan then ended the argument, saying: "I understand exactly what your saying. I apologise if you've taken it that way. It wasn't meant that way."

Dean then went to the Bushtucker Telegraph to vent. He told the camera: "He didn't even give me a chance to say yes or no because he went 'don't fancy it? No? and ran."

He added: "Don't dig me out like that. Of course I fancy it. I want to help Jane. I went straight down and helped her."

Speaking about the incident after on spin-off show I'm A Celebrity Unpacked, Ant and Dec aired their views. Dec said: "That was a real other side to Dean I didn't expect to see."

Ant appeared to defend Dean, saying: "We did ask a person who wears contact lenses if they take a moment to settle and they said yes." But Dec hit back: "When they do settle does that make you really passive aggressive?"

Viewers took to X to comment after the tense exchange. One said: "Won't be listening to radio 1 again literally due to learning about who Dean is now as a person. Disgusting."

A second said: "Dean is definitely acting out for air time! Im not enjoying this side of him and I really wanted him to be good… I guess I’ll have to find a new early breakfast radio show to listen to."

Another added: "OMG what an insufferable ****!! Alan one of the nicest guys in the camp and he speaks that way to him. I need him voted off first #imaceleb #imacelebrity."
