Max George reveals shockingly low heart rate in health update

by · Birmingham Live

Max George has disclosed his alarmingly low heart rate today, mere hours following his announcement to fans about requiring a pacemaker. The 36 year old celebrity was hospitalised last week due to heart complications and is maintaining a positive outlook while medics work to pinpoint the cause.

Today, Max indicated that his resting heart rate dipped to a startling 34 beats per minute, as he willed it to increase. With matchday enthusiasm, he captioned his video saying: "Come on Man City, sort me out will ya? !"

The British Heart Foundation notes the average resting heart rate usually ranges from 60 to 100 beats per minute, but it can be lower in physically fit younger adults. After previous liver-related health issues prompted him to give up alcohol, Max now faces the reality of needing a pacemaker fitted to regularise his heartbeat to a safer count.

He explained: "The latest is that 100 per cent I am going to have a little friend put in here somewhere at some point." Detailing his condition further, he added, "I have got an issue with the bottom part of my heart — it is called a block."

The challenge now lies in identifying the specific device required, which hinges on the outcomes of additional testing to determine the underlying cause. In eliminating possible factors, Max said: "We have cancelled out a few things like alcohol for example. I have not had a drink for 41⁄2 years, so it isn’t that."

Going sober after health professionals alerted him about his depleted liver count, which stemmed from his revelries while touring, Max continues sharing his journey: "My heart rate is really, really low, which they are monitoring 24/7. Everyone has been amazing but the waiting bit is tough, do you know what I mean? ".

"But yeah, it is just one of those things unfortunately and whatever I get I have just got to get on with it really and we are hoping pacemaker. Pacemaker is good."
