James Martin and ITV Saturday Morning guest clash in-studio over accusation

James Martin has awkwardly clashed with a guest on ITV James Martin Saturday Morning today. On the ITV show, chef James returned to our TV screens and was joined by sports presenter Jake Humphrey as well as TV chefs and a mixologist.

But James, who previously starred on BBC Saturday Kitchen before quitting the show, clashed with his guests over a key ingredient as he claimed the dish would be “ruined” without it. During his roast dinner tutorial, James said that the dish wouldn’t be complete without onion gravy.

He explained: “Now this is where it gets controversial. You’ve got to have onion gravy. Roast beef and onion gravy was intended in Yorkshire, you put onions in the gravy, it’s as simple as that.” James fumed: “You lot have just ruined it by coming down south.

"Don’t get me on my high horse.” Jake Humphrey added: “Never get into a debate with James Martin about a Sunday dinner.” It comes after James told he was received a lucrative offer to open a restaurant in Barbados as he addressed the future of his ITV show James Martin's Saturday Morning.

The 52-year-old made his name on TV as the main presenter of Saturday Kitchen from 2006 to 2016 before leaving the BBC and moving over to ITV. In a chat with Best magazine, James told what the next 12 months will hold for him, including the opportunity on the sun-kissed Caribbean island,

He said: "We're recording the Saturday show all next year, I'm touring and there's a restaurant in Barbados that I've been offered, which I'd quite like to look at, too. In between all that, I'm hoping for a day off."

He told Best it was 'nerve-wracking' leaving the Beeb but he wanted to 'leave the broadcasting giant on a high'.
