Strictly Come Dancing has announced its winner with the show coming to a roaring conclusion tonight after weeks of magical performances. Host Tess Daly announced the winners were comedian Chris McCausland and his partner Dianne Buswell.

The pair had been favourites to lift the glitterball trophy after their incredibly moving performances on the show. Dianne has been repeatedly praised for her incredible work teaching Chris, who lost his sight in his 20s due to retinitis pigmentosa.

JB Gill and Lauren Oakley, Sarah Hadland and Vitto Coppola and Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec rounded off the final four. The final vote wasn't up to judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke. Instead the public had complete control of the vote.

After their win was announced, Chris said: "It's astonishing. I don't know what to say. I honestly thought I would go out in the first week or two. And I know nobody went home in the first week but I thought I might.

"She [Dianne] has got so much out of me. She deserves this so much. She's just positivity, belief and one of the easiest people to be funny with.

"This is for her and for everyone out there who got told they couldn't do something or thought they couldnt do it and it just shows with opportunity, support and determination anything can happen."

Dianne said: "This is you and me Chris. We did this together."

Fans rushed to social media following the announcement with emotional posts. One wrote: "Bloody hell! I am over the moon!! Chris !! crying over here !!! #StrictlyComeDancing."

A second said: "First time ever watching #StrictlyComeDancing all because of Chris, what a man, IM SOBBING OK." A third added: "Bawling !! So so proud and happy #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing."
