BBC Children in Need star Vernon Kay's public apology after 'cheating' on Tess Daly

Children in Need host Vernon Kay and Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly have been a strong item for over two decades despite going through their own 'cheating scandal. The pair, who tied the knot back in 2003 after two years of dating and are parents to Phoebe Elizabeth and Amber Isabella Kay, first met whilst carving out their careers as presenters.

Vernon was at the helm of T4 on Channel 4, and Tess brightened up our Saturday mornings on ITV's SMTV. Their marriage faced a crisis in 2010 when Vernon admitted sending saucy texts to model Rhian Sugden among other women.

Tess was understandably devastated by the revelations. At that turbulent time, Vernon addressed the situation, confessing: "Tess is extremely upset about this and we're working through it. But in some ways I'm glad this story has come out. It feels like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders."

He added: "I knew it was getting silly. I'm never going to do it again and hopefully I can clear the slate clean and start again."

Vernon declared: "I'm so sorry. I've been an idiot and I've let my family down." He later publicly apologised on BBC Radio One, acknowledging his 'foolish' choices and saying, "I've disappointed and let down a lot of people. To my family and everybody, I'm very sorry."

In a chat with Digital Spy about their relationship, Tess revealed: 'It was all quite immediate, really, because we instantly had such a blast together.

"I couldn't imagine having more fun with anyone else. It was pretty explosive, I tell you."

Tess further added: "I guess he is the same, but more mature. You know what men are like, they never really grow up, do they? Do they ever catch us up mentally? I don't think so."
