ITV This Morning's Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary both halted This Morning today to issue a message of support to Davina McCall as she fights a brain tumour. Birmingham presenter Alison was joined by Dermot in sharing their well-wishes to the Big Brother icon.

The ITV duo spoke out on November 15 as Davina underwent a brain tumour op today. Alison said: “Davina has just put out a statement that she went through a routine scan and discovered that she has got a brain tumour but the good thing is that it is benign.”

She continued: “We just want to say, all our thoughts are with Davina. We are thinking about you and you are so strong. Even in the Instagram post, she is just incredible.” Dermot added: "The good thing is that it is benign. She said the chance of having it was three in a million. Sending you all our love and prayers Davina and Michael.”

McCall described it as a “big” tumour, 14mm wide, and said: “It needs to come out because if it grows it would be bad.” She is having it removed through a craniotomy, a surgical procedure to temporarily remove part of the skull, and said she was in “good spirits”.

“I’m going to be in hospital for about nine days, and then I’m going to be going home, but I’m going to be off my phone for a while,” McCall said. The ITV The Masked Singer judge went on and said: “But I don’t want you to worry about me. I’m doing that enough as it is. I am in a good space, and I have all the faith in the world in my surgeon and his team, and I am handing the reins over to him. He knows what he’s doing.”

McCall, a former Big Brother host who currently presents the ITV dating show My Mum, Your Dad, has long advocated on women’s health issues.
