BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden says she is 'back' in major show update

The professional dancer had undergone a challenging period earlier in the current competition, having teamed up with JLS's JB Gill.
At 35, Amy was keen for a comeback in the BBC One dance contest's 2024 edition after missing the prior year due to breast cancer treatments. However, she faced a setback during this year's milestone 20th series when she sustained an insufficiency stress fracture in her foot, which occurred towards the end of October during the famed Halloween week broadcast.
Lauren Oakley stepped in to pair with JB so he could continue, but despite her own dismay, Amy has consistently been there for her fellow dancers, cheering them on towards the much-anticipated finale on Saturday, December 14.

But it seems Amy might be hinting at a more significant return to the show as the season wraps up. Despite her difficult departure from the spotlight, she has sparked excitement amongst her fans with a backstage snap at Elstree Studios, sharing a cheerful selfie taken in the iconic Strictly ballroom and captioning it: "Back dancing in this magical ballroom."
This came ahead of her indulging in some Yuletide merriment alongside fellow stars Carlos Gu, Nikita Kuzmin, and Katya Jones, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Last weekend, Strictly viewers were left feeling grateful after a touching gesture for JB just moments following his first semi-final performance. It was an eventful evening for the singer and presenter as he took to the stage during the semi-finals, where the remaining five pairs each performed two dances.
JB kicked off with a score of 39 out of 40, earning acclaim for his "absolutely amazing" paso doble to Clint Mansell's Requiem For A Tower. After their dance, as JB and Lauren made their way to the 'Clauditorium' to receive their scores, JB was greeted with a surprise birthday cake featuring his own face, courtesy of his former dance partner Amy Dowden and professional Kai Widdrington, while his fellow contestants burst into 'Happy Birthday' in celebration of his 38th birthday.
This moment didn't go unnoticed by Strictly fans, who took to social media to express their appreciation. @strictlylina tweeted: "Amy bringing jb the cake thank you strictly for keeping our team #strictly."
