by · Birmingham Live

Zayn Malik gave a touching tribute to Liam Payne during his first-ever solo tour after the One Direction split. The "Pillow Talk" hitmaker, 31, projected a message onto the stage stating: "Liam Payne 1993-2024. Love you bro" with a heart emoji.

His tribute came after Payne died aged 31 on October 16 after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in Argentina's capital Buenos Aires.

Malik reunited with former One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson to pay their respects last week.

Zayn has more gigs lined up in Manchester, Leeds, and Newcastle, with a particularly poignant show planned in Liam's hometown of Wolverhampton before he heads to the States. In the wake of his former bandmate's tragic death, Zayn took to Instagram to announce a pause in his solo tour to mourn his dear friend.

"Given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week, I've made the decision to postpone the US leg of the STAIRWAY TO THE SKY Tour," his statement read. "The dates are being rescheduled for January and I'll post them as soon as it's all set in the next few days. Your tickets will remain valid for the new dates. Love you all and thank you for your understanding," he continued
