BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Dianne Buswell says dad is 'going to be very upset' as she tells personal story

Strictly Come Dancing star Dianne Buswell risked upsetting her dad Mark as she revealed a personal story during the results show on Sunday night. The Australian professional dancer, 35, is through to the quarter finals of the hit BBC dancing show with her celebrity partner Chris McCausland.

It was an emotional show for the pair as Dianne's parents Rina and Mark, had travelled from Australia to spend some time with their daughter, marking their first visit to the UK in seven years to watch her compete in the competition. Their visit came after Mark finished his six-month chemotherapy treatment for an unspecified type of cancer in April.

Opening up about her proud dad's support, Dianne revealed some rather unsporting behaviour from him when she was younger. She told host Claudia Winkleman: "When I was a little girl, he's going to be very upset at me telling this story, but I did a dance competition and as you've seen he's very, very proud of me.

Dianne continued: "I didn't win, I didnt often win actually, but because I didn't win he kind of booed the other contestants."

Her partner Chris then asked how old the other competitiors were. "They were about eight," Dianne admitted.

"When I got really upset with him he said 'But that's what we do in football matches'. He can do that to Craig though, I'm allowing him to do that to Craig but no-one else."

Chris and Dianne performed a Paso Doble to El Gato Montes by Manuel Panella for their latest routine. As the pair concluded their routine, the cameras focused on the overjoyed parents who were seen holding each other as they cried.
