BBC Strictly's Shirley Ballas walks off while judging Chris McCausland and praises another star
by Katy Hallam, https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/authors/katy-hallam/ · Birmingham LiveStrictly Come Dancing finalist Chris McCausland completely broke down on the stage in an incredibly emotional moment as he performed his last dance on the BBC show. The comedian and his partner Dianne Buswell chose to finish their time in the competition with their Waltz to You'll Never Walk Alone.
And by the end Chris was in floods of tears. He could be heard sobbing as he held Dianne close to him as they shared a special moment on the dance floor.
Chris couldn't hold it together as he walked over to receive his comments from the judges. They were full of praise, with head judge Shirley Ballas telling the duo: "This was totally totally on top of your game. I have to give this young lady a cuddle so come here Dianne."

She then walked over and gave the Australian professional dancer a big hug as she shared her admiration for teaching Chris, who has been unable to see since his 20s due to retinitis pigmentosa, to perform so well. Shirley told Dianne: "You have found a way to this man's heart. You have found every step he is able to do...so from one teacher to an amazing teacher congratulaions."
Anton Du Beke said he thought Chris 'was going to change people's lives' by appearing on the show, adding he loved to watch him dance. Craig Revel Horwood even got emotional as he read a poem to expresss his feelings.
He told the pair: "My eyes were made wide open in the studio when I came to coach you guys and I loved every scecond of it and it stayed with me. To the point..I have written a poem."
He then shared it, reading: "In a world of darkness you've learned to dance and slay. With evey step you've found the way. You've taught the world anything can be done. As long as you don't stick out your bum.
"Those shoulders raised, lack of swing and sway, with every heel lead you discovered the day. A heart that dances pure and free is worth much more than a 10 from me. And Chris you're a light that shines for all to see."
Dianne had earlier broken down in an emotional VT from rehearsals played before their final dance. She said teaching Chris was the 'best experience' in her career, and he had made her feel comfortable in her self.
She said: "When I first met you Chris and I walked in and I said 'Chris! It's Dianne!' I hope that my enthusiasm stayed that strong."
Chris joked 'Unfortunately it did," before adding seriously: "I've learnt a lot doing this and I don't mean dancing. I've learnt I'm more capable than I thought I was. I'm going to look at myself differently moving forward."
Dianne broke down in tears as she told Chris: "It's been the best experience of my dancing career. You've made me feel I can be exactly who I am as well.
"Your belief and your trust in me has been so incredible. You make me feel at ease even though I know you're so scared." Chris summed it up, adding: "It's been life changing."
