BBC The One Show viewers can't bear to watch interview which is 'just wrong'
by James Rodger, https://www.facebook.com/jamesrodgerjournalist · Birmingham LiveBBC The One Show has come under fire over its choice of guests - with fans branding it "wrong". BBC viewers took issue with Roman Kemp welcoming dad Martin and wife Shirlie onto the show on Thursday (October 31) evening.
Clara Amfo and Roman revealed that two of their guests happened to be the latter's parents. Amfo said: "Let's say hello to Martin and Shirley Kemp - AKA Roman's parents - and Jake Shears! Look, sit up straight. You're in the presence of your makers."
Martin made the "washing" joke a second time, prompting Roman to turn to Scissor Sisters star Shears and quip: "Jake, I'm just going to speak to you tonight." Throughout the interview, Roman referred to Martin and Shirlie as "mum and dad".

"Kemps tonight, Dyers tomorrow. Is it Nepotism Week? #theoneshow," one fan sniped on Twitter/X. A second fumed on social media as the episode played out: "Nepo Baby gets to interview parents. Wow great television. #TheOneShow."
"@BBCTheOneShow What's this tonight, 'Bring Your Parents To Work' Day #TheOneShow," another asked. And a fellow Twitter/X user wrote: "All we're missing is Gary and we've got the full set of Kemps. Jesus. This is just wrong. #TheOneShow."
"Tonight on #TheOneShow, nepo kid Roman Kemp interviews his parents Martin & Shirlie at his workplace," another added. And a fellow fan wrote alongside the show's hashtag on Thursday evening: "Nepotism at its finest BBC."
Not everybody was against the interview, though. One typed: "3 members of the same family on the #bbctheoneshow & what a great family!" as they defended Roman, who is a Capital FM radio host as well as a Celebrity Gogglebox star.
Roman, who previously starred in I'm A Celebrity, stars on the Channel 4 show alongside dad Martin, who himself is a former BBC EastEnders actor.
