Sunday Brunch descends into chaos as Joe Lycett left red-faced by 'rude' name of new segment

by · Birmingham Live

Joe Lycett, a guest on Sunday Brunch, couldn't resist questioning the name of a new segment on the Channel 4 show when he appeared this Sunday (December 15).

This week's episode saw Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer welcome a host of celebrities including Melanie Hill, Chris van Tulleken, Pepsi and Shirlie, Majestic and others to the popular cookery and chat programme.

Following the first break, the episode resumed with a recap of three of Simon's top recipes from 2024.

Tim explained: "Since it's Spotify Wrapped season we wanted to look back at Simon's 'Rimcaps' and see which dishes have been the most popular online.

"It's Rimcaps Wrapped... Unwrapped," he stumbled, causing the celebrities to burst into laughter. "Is it wrapped or unwrapped?", reports the Express.

Tim then revealed that the third most popular recipe was an old school beef curry, prompting Joe to interject.

"Can I just check, it's called Rimcap?" he asked, causing more laughter. "And everyone's OK with that?"

Simon responded with a cheeky smile: "I'm fine with that, Joe."

Tim continued: "Number two, pancakes with hazelnut sauce", to which Simon exclaimed, "Really?" and Joe blurted out: "What a Rimcap!"

Tim then disclosed that viewers' top pick was the spiced sumac orzo with prawns, leaving Simon surprised as he responded: "Get out of here! That was number one?"

Simon then proceeded to prepare his next recipe, roast potatoes and stuffing balls with curry sauce, before being interrupted once again by Joe.

Simon's culinary delights, regardless of their awkward names, have certainly resonated with viewers and are available on the Sunday Brunch website.

When questioned, "Will this be Rimcapped?" Simon verified, "Indeed."

The room filled with laughter once more as another guest playfully chimed in, "You're not letting it go!"

Meanwhile, fellow guest Matt Goss observed: "It does sound pretty uncomfortable..."

Sunday Brunch airs from 9:30am on Channel 4.
