Kratos Voice Actor Denies Multiple God of War Announcements

Update: Allegedly not "our" God of War

Update [Mon 25th Nov 2024, 9:45am]: Christopher Judge has now posted a tweet clarifying his comments, stating he knows nothing about imminent God of War announcements. The news relates to him personally rather than "our God of War".

Original Story: Despite God of War Ragnarok's 2022 release and subsequent Valhalla DLC arriving in December 2023, it still seems too soon to hear about what the future holds for Kratos and Atreus. Kratos actor Chris Judge has seemingly teased several imminent reveals in a recent TikTok livestream before later clarifying, and walking things back on X.

The stream has caused something of a stir on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, largely due to Judges' repeated use of Kratos' iconic catchphrase, "Boy". Spotted by TheGamer, the full, relevant quote was reported: "The next two weeks are going to be chock-full of announcements and all kinds of good stuff. Thank you so much for joining us, and we will talk to you soon, boy."

Now, fan speculation is leaning towards at least one of these announcements being related to the impending Secret Level anthology series; we know that Kratos is in it, but Judge has not been confirmed in the role. It could be something as simple as that, a dedicated trailer, or something else entirely. Judge himself has pushed back on this reporting (below). He does, however, use the plural "announcements" and claims that whatever these reveals end up being, they have nothing to do with "our" (Sony Santa Monica's) God of War series.

Probably a TV show that’ll end up being rubbish. They’ll either inexplicably start at the Viking games or it’ll be a whole season of pre-Ghost of Sparta for him to ‘earn’ the ashen skin.

Lego God of War, of course.

A remastered collection with all the GOW up to Ascension sounds lovely! what wouldn't be lovely is a crappy show or a crappy Lego 🙁

@nessisonett Amazon is making it aren't they? If Fallout is any indication to by then it could be good.

As for time period i actually think starting at the Norse end with flashbacks to the Greek era is the best way to go. The Greek side would be too expensive to get right for a TV show and the Kratos of that era is just very unlikeable and lacks the depth of his older self. Having a whole show based on that Kratos wouldn't be good especially as the show couldn't just make it an action fest with large scale battles like the games can.

@Juanalf I mean, he said it isn't going to be "our" gow, it would be surprising if it was gonna be anything to do with older games after saying that. Seeing as how almost all the games were made by the same dev team.

But it is only 'our' God Of War that matters!

When will these voice actors learn you can't make cryptic tweets and not expect the gaming community to run with it.

Atreus spinoff announcement fits the bill...
It could also be a trip to the Nordic past, about Tyr and his travels to all of the 9 realms...
Or may be about a different area and pantheon... Persia, Egypt, Maya etc...
Or just about the OG trilogy remasters - in which Kratos was much different.

All in all it seems the "nordic" Kratos gets left behind for future new games.

please no . i think it would be cool if they introduced a new main character thats a demigod & son of zeus like kratos & wants to kill kratos . i know that doesn’t really sound good , but its better than anything to do with the boy 💀

@babybilly man that would suck for me if they are remastering those games since i just re-beat them a few months ago & now im burnt out again . i still think god of war 2 is overrated 😂

I want them to go back in time, and have more adventures with young Kratos.
Or at least kill off Atreus, and send Kratos on a rampage, old-school style.
No more boring boat, walking and climbing sequences, where they go nonstop "bla bla bla bla". And no more boring over the shoulder camera. Bring back the epic camera movements, and bigger FOV during battles.

My guesses: GOW tv series, GOW remaster to tie in the tv series and a spinoff with the boy.

Please release some of the older (good) God of War games. Without changes.

People may take this as a "hot take". But I wholeheartedly believe that GoW 3 was the peak of the franchise, that to me is what a God of War game should be.

@Oram77 a whole lot of people feel this way. But, regardless, the game didn't sell anywhere near as much as God of War (ps4), so they have no reason to return to its roots.

@nomither6 I'll agree to that, I think gow2 was a low point for the mainline games. Like I said tho, hopefully it's something else cause it would be weird for Chris Judge to have stirred the pot and get defensive when people assume it's a remake/remaster or new gow.

@Oram77 I don't think calling God Of War III peak is a hot take at all 😅. I adore 4 and Ragnarok but I'd say II or III is the best ^__^

I miss the old Kratos, voice and all.

So it’ll be the remaster/remake of the original trilogy.

@babybilly Yeah, I believe there’s so much more they could do with the series. They could make a GoW in the same fashion as MK Shaolin Monks or something.

@Oram77 couldn’t agree more, though the first game is my favorite the third was a technical spectacle that made the xbox360 look like a generation behind! they pretty much improved on everything that made the franchise great with GoW3 .
