We awarded Bloober Team’s brilliant PS5 remake of Konami’s iconic survival horror Silent Hill 2 a 9/10 because we genuinely believe it’s one of the strongest games of the year. At the time of writing, the title currently commands an 87 on Metacritic, suggesting the rest of the industry agrees. But not everyone is happy about the high scores!

Earlier today, Wikipedia was forced to lock the game’s page after Internet trolls tried to rewrite the release’s review scores – literally. A screenshot shared on Reddit shows our score edited down from 9/10 to 3/10 – with other sites like Eurogamer.net and IGN also having their scores downgraded.

Seriously? Trolls can't handle SH2R's success so they vandalized the Wikipedia review scores

It’s not exactly clear why this has happened. One theory is that the game is being targeted for altering the clothing and facial features of some female characters. The remake was also the subject of intense scrutiny for the longest time, due to the original’s status as a classic game. Whatever the case, it’s ridiculous.

If you feel personally attacked by the successful reviews of any videogame, it’s probably time to use the internet to look for some kind of professional help. We can all be better than this.

@Nei There is no cure for what they have.

Jokes on them. We're all enjoying the game 🤷

Or they could be trying to hurt the game because it’s not available to play on their platform.

Humans are really awesome.
Great job humans. 👏🏻

Ahh the internet.

Should have to pass tests to be allowed to use it.

First question being - are you a f*cktard?

My guess at the reasons… some people are green with envy 🤢

Perfectly reasonable behaviour of course, nothing unhinged going on here.

On another note, this article says it was published 'Tomorrow 00:15' I just thought that was amusing. Quit the time travelling Sammy.

Green team fanboys must be jealous

The beauty of this is that it led me to learn all about the Silent Hill Circumcision-wiki altering debacle from a few years back. Not only priceless but spiritually-affirming that a new/remake in the same series also has wiki-altering shenanigans:

The funny thing is that Wikipedia picks up on this stuff almost instantly and then your IP’s banned. And yet we were told constantly growing up never to use Wikipedia for research in school. Now we have AI if you want laughable disinformation.

What a healthy and open-minded community.

Only played the first hour and so far Blooper have done an excellent job, the visuals are stunning while still keeping the atmosphere intact. Hopefully this is a turning point for Blooper.

These people are dumb af. Why would you even waste the time it took to do that?!

Absolutely ridiculous if it’s because of character design changes. I hope games become even more “woke”. Love watching these trumpers and incels meltdown.

Maybe it is being targeted for no other reason than ''trolls are gonna troll''.
Not everything has to have an agenda or a conspiracy behind it - even in these politically charged times in which we live. For some people, it really is just a bit of fun to ruin someone else's day.

@LifeGirl there has been a lot of discourse around the release.

You only need half a brain cell in this case to realise it’s not just been done for ‘funsies’ by a troll

@Orpheus79V They've done this multiple times before, even though you can access it before its officially listed publish time, likely due to that time being busier and if their's notifications (I don't know if there is for when a new article comes) then you would see multiple at a time. But frankly I do not know

Being a Playstation console exclusive probably has something to do with it.

Haters gonna be haters .word up son

Maybe they should find the handgun

I was one of the people who didnt think bloober could pull it off but im happy I was proven wrong. Why are we dunking on success now XD

lol this is hilarious 😂 quality news tbh

I've never understood why people even waste their time doing this. You changed the review scores on Wiki, great! That doesn't somehow erase the real review scores from existence.

Some people seems to get so emotionally attached to stuff and makes it so personal that they just can't take the L without making a stink.

All most of us really want are good games, so that this is a satisfactory remake of a revered game should be a win for everyone.

Done by one angry child who couldn't digest its success 😆😆😆😆

People....they're the worst.

Some people need to step away from the keyboard and get a life. Pathetic.

Everything about the game looks good. Sadly for it, its JRPG month for me and wont be getting to it anytime soon. Itll be a 2025 game for me

Uh oh… which character did they gender bend? Or make (looks around, whispers)black…?

I was skeptic if Bloober gonna nailed it but it seems they did. Even Max Derrat praised the remake from his 4 hours playing time and he's a longtime SH fans that very critical with early trailer.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=K2SDEM8ulEQ

But to go this far, i think this troll is not a SH fans.

@AhmadSumadi Thankfully none of them

It's pretty sad that it came to this all because of people who couldn't handle the positive reception of the remake.

some people have too much time on their hands , they need to go outside more.

People nowadays can be so weird. Are they getting paid for doing that? Or just for dumb fun?

I misread that title as “Idiot trolls”. Still works

This doesn't happen like this for other Sony exclusives, that's usually just review bombing. This seems more personal so I'm willing to bet it's more on the female cosmetic changes than Microsoft fans.

Regardless of any console biases anyone who mislabels or marks down a game simply for it's platform is no real gamer. Respect the developers who made the game and keep personal bias be it platform or political out of reviews

lol at the things xbox/fanboys will do to try and repudiate sony...

The best part about being "a real gamer" is that you can be miserable about an endless amount of things and never find the time to actually enjoy gaming. People can loose at life so bad.

Ok I know “review bombing” is a thing that happens all the time and people are awful these days as humans try to extinct themselves, but in this instance we are talking about a Wiki page that was likely changed by 1 single person, correct, so all the “plural” talk about “trolls” and “people” in this case is incorrect, or am I reading it wrong?

Feel free to correct me, I’ve no skin in this game.

Since when are Wikipedia users every trustworthy or edit things? Most seems fair but yeah the odd ones come in. Even on Fandom it varies too. Those that make fun and write bad altered stuff for fun.

Locking it though hmm that's fair. But yeah if it has enough info on it then by all means it's done nothing more to edit.

Silent Hill fans and getting a break or just those salting it isn't coming to platforms. Either way. Sigh.

They vary/accounts are easy enough to set up. Players can hate it but 'accuracy' over feelings. I know how it turned out and I'm not even the audience but they want to alter history due to them hating it/bandwagons, leave it to the sales not the reviews.

Many of my favourites suck now I just move on, my wallet and words won't change anything if the staff/publishers have made it clear that's the vision of the game, see you later then.

I disagree with reviews sure on specific things but not enough to alter them on Wikipedia or alter Metacritic or anything that far, sigh some people need to chill.

I've had to alter/have unremoved things due to bias of people.

Had to deal with the hate for the Fabric modloader (Minecraft fan modding) because oh Forge is so great. On a wiki page and comment sections it's just a bad troll that went for 2+ years then the project page went nah cut comments entirely.

I do my modloader research and know at least like 7 (Modloader, Forge that is a fork of it XD changed over the years but still, Meddle a snapshot one, Liteloader, Rift, Fabric, Quilt, like I do my research and wasn't even around for early modding) but they have an emotional moment/sports moments and alter details or troll comment because of pointless hatred.

At least with fan modding it's a case of well toxic community/leadership among mod authors so they made their own modloader/game engine equivalent logic I guess. No money involved really just not code/APIs they'd like to see added, gave up and made their own with the APIs they wanted, sure saw similar mods or similar Mod Jams/Fests and so on but eh it's nice I guess the new then just the repeats but oh well, with company staff separating it's more a job on the line and such and if they get enough staff to leave and form a new company. With players being annoying and things they can't change it happens.

Fans just don't get it and just play games but go wah we don't like this. They don't care about the situation they just want simplicity, consistency, even if it takes like 1 minute to do and minor differences and 1 thing to rule them all logic about it. XD But it doesn't work that way.

Learn the behind the scenes, understand what makes it better or worse and deal with it. I supported both and did my part marketing each of them for a time and do my wikis now just in my own time. I understood the behind the scenes and I just did promo for both anyways. I didn't care. I knew what projects they were working on and revealed them whenever ready. I wasn't part of the main group or anything but it was cool getting an eye into things.

They don't know and are modern version self entitled one sided types, when the wiki I was putting it on had expanded to more sides of modding not it's limited scope it used to have.

So like PS/Xbox they go eh came first, eh is better, and act like childish PC users.

Come on out, Mikami-san, we know it's you.

The fact it was only PushSquares score adjusted AND it was changed to 3/10, it makes me think that it was done by someone who doesn't agree with PushSquares review standards.

The 3/10 is significant because it was awarded to The First Descendant, a game that the majority of other outlets and players reviewed with a higher score. PushSquare were mocked for the review and this seems like it could be a shot at those standards again - maybe someone thinks The First Descendant deserved a lot better and Silent Hill 2 a lot less?

you scum bags deserved it. you gave this game a 9, while until dawn got a 6? wtf?

@Slidebomb What an embarrassing post.

@Nei Just go to 4chan and see if that people have any chance of recovery.

They act like animals, they use videogames like a meaning of life.

@Slidebomb I believe you're probably a troll, am I right?

@B_Lindz Please, don't blame the Silent Hill community. We are loving the game. The sub on reddit are just positive comments.

Those people are coming from chan/gaming foruns. They don't play videogames and every game has some "woke sh*t" like they say.

AGAIN: This is not coming from the Silent Hill community!

@UltimateOtaku91 yup.
"You are telling me this game is good? Sony is paying (a part) for it, it should be trash!" lol

@Optimus They're definitely entertaining, especially the ones with Stage 4 anti-woke virus.

@Nepp67 I think you're missing the point of sarcasm... which potentially makes you problematic?

I saw this indie dev on twitter that yesterday was like "Can't wait for the mods do this this this and this so I can touch the game. If you don't like it grow up" The dude only made that one post about the game, no one was arguing with him, he was basically fighting in his head LOL.

I will never share the necessity of SOME people to look down the new just because it's different with what they experienced in the past, specially when the new is so well done like this remake but I understand. Their lives never got better than those days so they have to hold to nostalgia as hard as they can.

Ahhh ofc. People getting mad
