More PS Plus Extra, Premium News to Come for December as 30th Anniversary Approaches

Classics revealed early

by · Push Square

Yesterday, as expected, Sony revealed December's monthly PS Plus Essential games. However, it went a little further than usual, also revealing some retro classics coming to PS Plus Premium a little later in the month.

In this part of the PS Blog post, Sony also tells fans to look out for more news in relation to PS Plus Extra and Premium. If Sony follows its usual pattern, we should learn the full lineup of new additions to the upper tiers on 11th December.

Interestingly, the three classic games already announced are arriving on the 10th, and we of course can't forget PlayStation's 30th anniversary is on the 3rd. Perhaps we'll be hearing about December's games a little sooner.

Whatever the case, we still don't know anything about Extra's game catalogue additions, and it sounds as though there will be more for those subscribed to Premium as well. This is purely speculative, but given the anniversary, it wouldn't surprise us too much to see some extra retro titles thrown into the mix.

Destruction Derby

How about some PS2 era EA Sports BIG games. I’m looking at you SSX and NBA Street series. Might as well throw in some, Katamari, Simpson’s Hit and Run, Maximo, and Bully in there while you’re at it.

@Member_the_game Good one!

I'd like some more older JRPG's like White Knight Chronicles 2, Breath of Fire, Eternal Sonata, YS 6 and Drakengard.

MkA, MK D and MK A

@BlueLobster I’m guessing a lot of those games issues would be their sound track

Project Zero trilogy PLEEEEEEEEASE! 😭🙏

Maybe resistance 2 since the 1st and 3rd games are streaming

Of course they’ll throw to Extra some classics everyone owns already.

Gow 1 and 2 PS2 downloadedable

@Soulless666 I really doubt "everyone" owns these classics. I certainly don't whatsoever.

@Member_the_game Great shout! I LOVED Destruction Derby. I still think it was genius that many of the drivers had their own driving style like Learner Driver going slow and weaving side to side (which made lapping interesting) and some being very aggressive. Gave them all personality.

Broken sword 1&2 please thanks

@themightyant

It was a great game, I still dig out my old PS1 copy from time to time.

I know we have Wreckfest as a kind of modern equivalent but I genuinely do still prefer DD. Wreckfest just isn't quite the same.

Destruction Derby 2 would Also be nice

I’m just waiting for the psvr2 game. From essentials Temtem is good this month.

I loved International Superstar Soccer Pro, real basic stuff but great fun. Played it so much I used to beat the AI about 30-40 nil on the hardest difficulty. Love to play it again.

Don't know if it's just me but Extra really seems to be going down the drain, with all Sony's emphasis being on the most expensive tier.
I was going to drop down to Essential from Extra this year but instead I've cancelled my subscription.
Only been with PS+ since the PS3 days, Sony, so don't worry about giving loyal customers a discount!
