Terraced house with garden goes on sale for '£0'

by · Mail Online

A terraced house containing a garden has gone on sale for a starting price of £0 - but there is a very big catch.

The property in New Tredegar, south Wales, has no price at auction reserve and is also listed without a guide price.

This probably a good thing because whoever buys the house is going to need all the pennies they have to renovate it.

The terrace - while looking fair respectable from the outside - was completely gutted after a fire.

It is described by auctioneers as being in a "sorry state of repair" but even so it is expected to garner interest at auction.

However, it also offers huge potential for redevelopment into a spacious family home, as apartments or as a house of multiple occupancy (HMO) that could be a bargain for a builder or experienced property developer, should it receive planning consent.

Along with a garden, hilltop views of the nearby Bannau Brycheiniog National Park are other upsides to purchasing this pad.

Representing Paul Fosh Auctions, Sean Roper said: 'The terraced house is in the village of New Tredegar, and comes with sweeping valley views.

'The village benefits from a good range of amenities and shops and is ideally situated for access to Bargoed and Blackwood.

'Although severely damaged in the fire and now partially stripped out, the building, which is being sold with vacant possession, appears to offer three rooms on the ground floor.

'There are a further four rooms on the first floor with three to four rooms on the lower ground floor with a bathroom area. The property has a rear garden and is served with a lane access.

'Listed with a £nil reserve this large property with huge potential could end up being sold at auction for a matter of just a few hundred pounds depending on interest and a developer's appetite for the challenge.'
