Christmas 2024 opening hours for Lidl, Aldi, Tesco, Dunnes Stores and more

Christmas week is looming, and it's time to start getting ourselves organised for the big day.

However, no matter how organised we try to be, when it rolls around to Christmas week and the period before New Year's, we usually always have to nip out to pick up things we have forgotten.

Over the festive period, supermarkets have changed their opening hours so don't be caught out if you want to run out to grab one last thing.

We have made things a bit simpler for you as we have compiled a list of Christmas opening hours for all the major supermarkets.

Lidl

Lidl will be open from 8am to 10pm on Sunday, December 22 and Monday, December 23. On Christmas Eve, the shop will open from 8am until 6pm.

Lidl is closed on Christmas Day and St Stephen’s Day.

The store will be open on Friday, December 27 and Saturday, December 29 from 8am to 10pm while Sunday, December 29 will be 9am to 9pm.

Monday, December 30 opening hours are 8am to 10pm while the store opens from 8am until 6pm on New Year’s Eve.

It will be closed on New Year’s Day.

Aldi

Aldi stores nationwide will be closed Christmas Day and St Stephen’s Day and will also be closed New Year’s Day.

Christmas opening hours come into effect from Wednesday, December 18 with Aldi opening 8am to 10pm. Opening hours will remain the same on Thursday 19, Friday 20, Saturday 21, and Sunday 22. On Monday 23, Aldi will open 8am to 11pm while on Christmas Eve the store closes at 7pm and will reopen on Friday, December 27 from 8am to 9pm. The same opening hours apply on Saturday, December 28. On Sunday, December 29 the store will open slightly later at 9am. Opening hours for Monday 30 are 8am to 9pm, and 8am to 7pm on Tuesday 31.

Dunnes Stores

Dunnes Stores opening hours differ depending on location, so to be sure check on your individual branch here. However, all stores nationwide will close on Christmas Day and St Stephen’s Day.

Tesco

Tesco is another supermarket where the exact opening hours depend on each local branch. All Tesco stores will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day while some, but not all, will open on St Stephen’s Day. Check your local Tesco here.
