The 11 UK areas expected to face snowfall in the coming days
by James Rodger, Monica Charsley · NottinghamshireLiveNew weather maps have indicated that 11 areas across the UK are set for snow over the coming days. Updated WXCharts suggest a festive blanket of snow could cover the UK in time for Christmas Day.
The latest information highlights where snow is most expected, with areas such as the West Midlands, Manchester, and Stoke-on-Trent highlighted for a high likelihood of snowfall.
The heaviest accumulations are anticipated in the Yorkshire Dales and between Carlisle and Darlington. Worcester and Hampshire residents might also see wintry showers, albeit less intense.
These updates arrive alongside expert predictions of "heavy snow" in certain regions.
James Madden from Exacta Weather warns that snow may begin to descend towards the end of this week. He said: "Our current forecast projections also show a higher than normal probability for some moderate to heavy snow at times across parts of northern England and Wales, and a more moderate to slightly less high possibility of this in some central regions of the country and to the east of Ireland for this same period," reports the Mirror.
"Additionally, throughout Thursday and into Friday will also bring the risk of some at least transient and moderate to heavy snow in parts as far south as central and southern England and in and around the capital, particularly during the late and early hours in this period, when it will be significantly cooler and more optimum for snow to fall and settle in these parts."
The expert warned residents to prepare for "wintry weather and snow showers", according to Birmingham Live. He added: "Widespread snow showers will be falling across certain parts of the country by next Wednesday, before something much bigger and a major snowstorm during 23-27 December.
"By next Wednesday, December 18-19, we will now see some widespread snow showers of varying intensity developing across the country once again, and despite them being more potent and noticeable across the northern half of the country, there is no reason why some parts quite far south won't also see some form of wintry weather and snow showers developing during this period."
