Woman shares 'best' way to clean oven glass and it's missing two key ingredients

Oven cleaning can be a tedious chore, especially without the right tools. While many swear by white vinegar and baking soda as the go-to solution for oven grime, one woman has found a more effective natural alternative that has garnered support from other cleaning enthusiasts.

On the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks Facebook group, Becca Dwyer shared a photo of her mother's oven door heavily coated in grease and revealed the secret to achieving a sparkling finish. She explained: "Hi. This is the glass from my mother's oven door I was cleaning her oven today as she can't bend down."

"I've tried Pink Stuff paste, Elbow Grease cream, dishwasher tablets, aerial pods also baking soda and vinegar but nothing shifted it."

Despite popular advice, Becca discovered that baking soda and vinegar were not up to the task against the tough dirt on the oven glass.

She switched methods and remarked: "Someone then suggested soda crystals to me and it worked so much better than anything I've tried. It's now sparkling.", reports the Express.

Experts at Dri-Pak have pointed out that the widely recommended mix of baking soda and vinegar isn't always the best answer, stating: "One thing that isn't really the best solution, despite lots of internet tips, is to use bicarbonate of soda and then add white vinegar."

Experts have advised against a common cleaning mix, stating: "The effect will be reduced because the acidic white vinegar is neutralising the alkalinity of the baking soda and it's that that dissolves the grease."

Instead, they recommend using soda crystals, explaining: "Soda crystals are excellent for dissolving grease and working on stubborn, burnt-on food."

They suggest a strong solution of soda crystals or a liberal application of liquid soda crystals sprayed over an oven door can be very effective. After leaving it to sit for at least 20 minutes, one should then give the oven a thorough wipe-down.

For more stubborn spots, they advise repeating the process with dry soda crystals, using them as a scrub along with a cloth for added abrasion. In another eco-friendly cleaning tip, lemons are praised as a natural marvel for making oven door glass sparkle.

Cleaning enthusiasts Joanne and Tracy from @additivefreelifestyle advocate using two to three lemons placed in water for 30 minutes in the oven at 200C as a natural method to clean your oven.
