Motorbike 'stolen' from Edinburgh two years ago found 300 miles away after police chase

After running a background check on the motorbike, police claim it was stolen from Edinburgh - 344 miles away - over two years ago and was being ridden by a non-licence holder.

A "stolen" motorbike from Edinburgh two years ago was involved in a police chase over 340 miles away.

Police in Hertfordshire came across the bike on patrol and claimed the rider failed to stop for officers before a pursuit took place and the bike was stopped "through tactics."

After running a background check on the motorbike, police claim it was stolen from Edinburgh - 344 miles away - over two years ago and was being ridden by a non-licence holder, reports Edinburgh Live.

Taking to social media alongside a picture of the bike and an unmarked police car, the BHC Road Policing Unit, who are responsible for areas such as Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridge, said: "RS66- Sergeant spotted this motorbike by Lilley with no plate.

"Bike didn't stop when requested and was pursued until stopped through tactics.

"Bike was confirmed stolen from Edinburgh over two years ago and now being ridden by non-licence holder. Not anymore..."
