Some traffic closures are coming to Kelowna to make way for the return of the Apple Marathon on Sunday, Sept. 29.

Beginning and ending at City Park, the race route spans areas of downtown Kelowna, the north end and South Pandosy, with traffic impacts expected.

To help accommodate the race, a large number of road closures will be in effect across the city from approximately 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., including 11 different roads and streets.

These traffic measures will impact some transit routes, including Routes 1, 2, 4, 8 and 12. Route 2 will be partially detoured while the other routes should expect delays and increased travel time.

Traffic control personnel will be in place to help direct traffic and motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly to avoid delays.

People downtown should also take note that the lakefront promenade between City Park and Waterfront Park will be in use from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and that City Park's parking lot will be partially closed from Sept. 28-29 for event purposes.
