Air India Express flight IX 471 bound for Bahrain was recalled and landed safely at the Kochi international airport in Kerala after a layer of the tyre was found on the runway after take-off on Tuesday (December 17, 2024).

The flight took off from the airport at 10.45 a.m. and landed back safely by 12.35 p.m., according to sources. Airport sources said further proceedings are on by the airlines concerned.

The flight had 112 persons on board, including eight crew members. The technical issue was identified soon after the aircraft became airborne.

The flight crew were told to return to Kochi to ensure the safety of the passengers. The airport authorities had ensured necessary precautionary measures to ensure the safe landing of the flight.

The technical experts were checking the flight to ascertain the problem.
