Minimum temperature dips in south interior Karnataka, with Hassan recording 10.8 degrees Celsius

There was a dip in minimum temperature in most of the districts in south interior Karnataka with early morning chills.

According to the India Meteorological Department, Hassan recorded a minimum temperature of 10.8 degrees Celsius during the 24 hours ending 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday, while it was 11.5 degrees Celsius in Chamarajanagar, 12 degrees Celsius in Madikeri, 13.4 degrees Celsius in Mysuru, 12.8 degrees Celsius in Shivamogga, and 12.8 degrees Celsius in Mandya.

The maximum temperature hovered around 29 degree Celsius in these districts.

The IMD stated that the minimum temperature was 3.7 degrees Celsius below normal in Hassan, while it was 3.1 degrees Celsius in Mandya and Mysuru, and 3.3 degrees Celsius below normal in Shivamogga.

The lowest minimum temperature recorded in Mysuru during December was 8.7 degrees Celsius in 2011, while the highest maximum temperature recorded in December was 32 degrees Celsius in 2018, as per the IMD data.

The dip in temperature coupled with early morning chills kept the people indoors, with some of the popular places for morning walks like the Manasagangotri campus not having many visitors. So was the scenario at Kukkarahalli Lake, and other places in the city.
