Free meals and a safe space to go, how Trafford is helping those who need it most at Christmas

Town hall bosses in Trafford have announced a host of locations and organisations where vulnerable families can seek help over the Christmas period. The council says it is supporting residents with advice, information, social activities and a safe place to go in times of need.

Free food and warm drinks as well as opportunities to chat and connect with others are being offered. On Mondays, all ages are welcome and lunch is provided at Urmston Hub Social at Age UK Trafford on Church Road from 11.30am to 1.30pm.

On Tuesdays, the Stretford Advice Hub runs at Stretford Public Hall, from 9.30am to 3.30pm, where there are warm drinks, biscuits and soup at lunch time in addition to information and advice from a number of different services. The hub will be closed on Tuesday December 24 and Thursday December 31.

Also on Tuesdays, the St John’s Centre in Old Trafford provides a free community lunch from 12noon to 1pm. Meanwhile, The HUB in Altrincham provides a free community meal every Wednesday at 6pm. Everyone is welcome. The HUB will be closed on Christmas Day but the community meal will be running on New Years Day.

Rehoboth at the Salvation Army building in Stretford hosts a Community Lunch every Wednesday 12noon to 2pm (excluding Christmas Day and New Years Day). The Rehoboth also runs host a Community Breakfast every Friday from 9am to 10am (excluding Friday 27 December and Friday 3 January).
