Emergency services descend on major road as car left on side following crash

A car was left on its side following a dramatic crash on a major road in Bolton.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Moss Bank Way, in Astley Bridge, just before 5pm today (Friday). It followed a smash involving two cars.

An eyewitness reported hearing a loud 'bang' at the time of the crash. An image from the scene shows a white car on its side near to Vets4Pets.

Firefighters rescued one person from inside one of the vehicles before they were then treated by paramedics. No one was seriously injured in the crash, Greater Manchester Police confirmed.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS), said: “At just before 5pm on Friday (September 20) two fire engines from Bolton Central fire station and the enhanced rescue unit from Ashton fire station were called to reports of a crash involving two cars on Moss Bank Way, Bolton.

“Firefighters helped rescue a person from one of the cars before handing them to the care of North West Ambulance Service. Crews made the scene safe and were in attendance for around 50 minutes.”
