Aldi shoppers demand 'please stop' over new £3.99 Christmas food item

by · Manchester Evening News

Around Christmas, supermarkets tend to push festive food items ahead of the holidays.

And while Christmas-themed food is popular, some shoppers are getting sick of seeing the same ingredient on everything.

Aldi has released a new festive pizza, and shoppers are pleading for foot companies to "please stop putting cranberries on everything".

The Specially Selected Festive Pigs In Blankets Wood Fired Sourdough Pizza costs £3.99 and features maple turkey, pigs in blankets, mozzarella, cranberry sauce and a garlic and herb crust.

Aldi shared a post on Facebook introducing the new product, and the comments have been flooded by cranberry-hating shoppers who have demanded that they stop adding cranberry to everything.

Paula Davitt commented: "Can we please stop putting cranberries on everything, not everyone likes them. Why not just include a wee sachet of it so it can be added if wanted."

Rochelle Feenie added: "Why do you have to add cranberry sauce to everything??? That’s just mean to the people who don’t like or even allergic to cranberries!"

And the cranberry hate continued. TJ Henson said: "I'm guessing it has cranberry sauce on it? Seeing as every single company that makes something Christmassy assumes everyone loves cranberry sauce", and Gill Hardman added: "I’d be buying this if it didn’t have cranberry sauce on it".

Jen Cotton said: "I was gonna buy this, but it's got cranberry on it", and Jane Haystead wrote: "Was very excited to buy one of these but only has 3 tiny pigs in blankets".

But other shoppers were pleased with the new pizza.

Sarah Hooper said: "It's actually really good. Worth grabbing and at £3.99 a good price", and Sarah Coley said: "Had this on Saturday night, delicious!"

Georgia Martin commented: "I've had this for tea tonight, was lovely! Definitely buying another", and Karen Merton added: "I didn’t think this pizza would be great but I bought it for the novelty value, actually it was really nice".
