Met Office speaks out over incoming UK snow bomb with '95 per cent risk'
by James Rodger, https://www.facebook.com/jamesrodgerjournalist · Birmingham LiveThe Met Office has spoken out over reports of a fresh incoming UK 48-hour snow bomb - amid reports there's a 95 per cent risk. The Met Office has spoken out ahead of Christmas, as it moves to publish the latest in the face of the WX Charts snow maps and charts.
"These excitable headlines occur all year round. Literally, come rain, shine or snow. But they often use one-off, individual forecasting model runs to suggest what weather ‘might’ be on the way," the UK's national weather service said.
"However, the truth is that single model runs are not reliable enough to work out a detailed forecast, they are just one part of the wide range of information needed to provide a full forecast picture."

Met Office Meteorologist Aidan McGivern said: “What meteorologists actually do, is rather than cherry pick one computer model run, the computer models are run lots and lots of times and then we can pick out areas where they are agreeing and areas where they are disagreeing.
"Then we can talk about likely weather patterns and less-likely weather patterns, common themes and so on.” The Met Office said the weather during this time will remain "changeable" with "further spells of wet and windy weather interspersed with drier and brighter conditions".
"The wettest and windiest conditions will probably be in the north, especially the northwest, with spells of heavy rain at times as low-pressure systems pass by," the Met Office added. "Further south, whilst some unsettled weather is likely at times, it will probably be drier overall with a greater influence of high pressure meaning frontal zones tend to weaken as the come south."
The forecasting agency went on to say: "Temperatures will tend to be above average for much of the time, although some brief colder incursions remain possible."
