BBC Weather says one part of England will be hit by 'eight inches' of snow this week
by James Rodger, https://www.facebook.com/jamesrodgerjournalist · Birmingham LiveEIGHT INCHES of snow will hit the UK in one area this week, the BBC Weather team has said. Simon King, lead weather presenter at the BBC, said the Pennines could expect as much as 20cm of the white stuff as the Met Office issues yellow weather warnings for the week.
Mr King explained: "We'll feel the first taste of winter weather over the coming days as chilly Arctic air spreads across the United Kingdom. Snow and ice warnings have been issued by the Met Office for late Sunday through to Tuesday.
"Northern areas and higher ground will be most at risk for potentially disruptive snow. Temperatures will be below the November average by Sunday with frosts expected through the coming week. As colder Arctic air moves southward across the UK over the weekend, wintry showers will start across northern Scotland on Sunday afternoon.

"The Met Office warn that around 5-10cm of snow could settle on higher ground in northern Scotland into Monday morning with 1-3cm possible to lower levels. Along with falling temperatures overnight into Monday, this will also bring the risk of ice."
Tonight will be largely dry with clear spells and a few patches of cloud. Northern and western areas will have scattered showers. The showers will turn wintry on the higher ground in north Scotland, the BBC has said. Its Sunday (November 17) forecast adds: "A cooler day tomorrow. It will start dry for most, with showers in the far north-west, and sunshine in the east. Rain will move into Northern Ireland, Wales and then central England later in the day."
The outlook for Monday to Wednesday explains: "Monday will see rain move in from the west, bringing the chance of snowfall to northern England and Northern Ireland. North Scotland will see wintry showers. Tuesday will be largely dry, bright and chilly but there is the chance of snow showers for northern and eastern coasts.
"Wednesday will continue chilly and bright for most, but there is a chance of showers along the coasts."
