Major East Midlands train delays and disruption as 'person hit by train'
by Annette Belcher · Derbyshire LiveTrain passengers are being warned of major disruptions to services in and around North Derbyshire tonight (Friday, November 15). According to East Midlands Railway, person has been 'hit by a train,' which has caused delays with some train services.
East Midlands Railway said: "We are sad to report that a person has been hit by a train. This has occurred between Chesterfield and Sheffield and is disrupting our trains on the London St Pancras/ Nottingham/ Sheffield and Liverpool Lime Street/ Nottingham/ Norwich route."
East Midlands Railway also say they do not expect the timetables to get back to normal until just after midnight and have told passengers to expect delays of around an hour. They added: "At present we are expecting the line to re-open in the next 3 hours. As soon as the line is open again, our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 00:05.
At the moment we are currently looking out how this is going to impact our services between Chesterfield and Sheffield on our Intercity route. Depending on train crew knowledge services may be able to divert. If services can divert your journey may have an additional delay of 15 minutes.
"We are also looking at how this is going to impact our services on our Liverpool Lime Street/ Nottingham/ Norwich route. Short notice cancellations and alterations to your journey can be expected.
"You should continue to travel as originally planned however your journey may be delayed by 60 minutes. We are sorry for the delay to your journey today. We are currently looking at alternative arrangements to keep you on the move."
