One of the festive season's highlights is undoubtedly the charm and variety offered at Christmas markets, where walking through bustling aisles filled with eager shoppers provides an experience not found in the usual last-minute rush at shopping centres.

Bakewell, the Peak District's sole market town, celebrated for its tarts and pudding, sits amidst beautiful countryside peppered with picturesque villages. With a market tradition spanning over a century, held weekly, Bakewell is gearing up to put on quite the spectacle this weekend.

The festivities will unfold this weekend (Saturday, November 16 and Sunday, November 17). Expectations are high for "delicious food", a wide array of entertainment, and around 100 stalls.

A spokesperson for the market announced: "Join us at Bakewell Christmas Market Weekend and browse through our incredible selection of festive stalls, delicious food and drink - and not forgetting the vast selection of entertainment we have over the weekend."

Around 100 stalls are set to be scattered across the town centre which, alongside a local brass and silver band, a choir and a DJ, is set to bring an immersive festive experience to families and locals in the town. As well as your classic food and drink stalls, including mulled wine and cider, bratwurst sausages, minced pies and burgers, a range of activities are set to keep the little ones occupied as well.

Some of the highlights will include James Mckay and his owls - a Harry Potter owl trainer - children's fair rides, a magic show and, of course, an opportunity to meet the main man, Santa Claus, himself. These are just a few of the many activities set to take place next month.

The fair will take place across Bakewell town centre and will run from Saturday, November 16 to Sunday, November 17. Doors will open at 9am each day and the market will close at 5pm each day.
