Storm Bert flood alerts across Devon and Cornwall
by Alex Driscoll · DevonLiveDozens of flood alerts have been issued across Devon and Cornwall today as Storm Bert brings strong winds and rainfall across the UK. Flood alerts were issued by the Environment Agency this morning (Saturday, November 23) meaning that flooding is likely across the majority of the South West region.
The weather conditions have resulted in power cuts across the region and fallen trees blocking major roads. Ferry services have been disrupted and train services halted.
Many flood alerts have been issued affecting both coastal and inland areas which are close to rivers. The full list of flood alerts across Devon and Cornwall are listed below:

- Exmoor Rivers
- Helford and Fal Rivers
- Lower Exe area
- Lower River Tamar
- Lower Taw area
- Lower Torridge area
- Mid Devon Rivers
- Middle Exe area
- Middle River Tamar
- North Cornwall Rivers
- North Dartmoor Rivers
- River Axe area
- River Dart area
- River Cober
- River Fowey
- River Lynher
- River Plym and Tory Brook
- Rivers Clyst and Culm and their tributaries
- Rivers Looe and Seaton
- Rivers Otter and Sid, and Exmouth area
- Rivers Tavy and Walkham
- River Teign area
- River Yealm
- South Devon coast from Start Point to Dawlish Warren
- South Devon Rivers
- St Austell and Par Rivers

Members of the public are urged to take care in areas which may be affected by flooding. Information will be updated on the Environment Agency’s website.
Earlier in the day, all sailings on the St Mawes Passenger Ferry were cancelled due to the storm. The ferry would have run between St Mawes and Falmouth.
The Met Office’s weather forecast for today said: “Storm Bert bringing a widely unsettled and potentially disruptive day with heavy, persistent rain and gales, severe along coasts. Turning noticeably milder, resulting in a rapid melt of lying snow. Maximum temperature 16 °C.”
The Met Office described tonight’s forecast as: “Remaining unsettled this evening and overnight with further spells of heavy rain, becoming persistent again by dawn. Staying very windy and mild. Minimum temperature 10 °C.”
