Final call to sign up for North Devon's iconic Mission: Unbreakable challenge

Every obstacle you conquer helps provide vital care to families in need

Time is running out to sign up for North Devon Hospice's iconic commando challenge, Mission: Unbreakable, set to take place on Sunday, October 13.

This adrenaline-fueled event, which tests participants' strength, endurance, and determination, promises a memorable experience while raising vital funds to help provide care for local people facing a life-limiting illness.

Running for its ninth year, Mission: Unbreakable participants will take on a military-style obstacle course designed with the help of local commandos from RMB Chivenor, featuring everything from mud pits and river crossings to rope climbs and the infamous ‘Sheep Dip’. With only a few spots left, this is the last chance for those brave enough to push their limits and support a truly worthy cause.

Lisa Mackenzie, events manager at North Devon Hospice, encouraged people to grab their place before it’s too late.

"Mission: Unbreakable is more than just an epic challenge; it’s an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of those facing life-limiting illnesses,” said Lisa. “Every obstacle you conquer and every bit of mud you wade through helps us provide vital care for local families in their time of need. If you've been thinking about signing up, now’s the time."

All funds raised from Mission: Unbreakable go directly towards the hospice's care, which is largely funded by the North Devon community. Last year alone, the hospice supported around 3,000 patients and families on its specialist Bedded Unit and with care at home through 14 community nurses and its Hospice to Home Team.

Evie, a hospice supporter whose friend Betty was cared for by North Devon Hospice last year, shared her heartfelt reason for supporting the event.

"The hospice team were a lifeline for Betty and her family during her final weeks,” said Evie. “They made it possible for her to stay at home, surrounded by loved ones, which meant the world to her. Taking part in Mission: Unbreakable is my way of saying thank you and helping to ensure other families can receive the same incredible care."

This year’s Mission: Unbreakable promises to be the biggest and best yet, with several new obstacles and plenty of support across the course to keep participants on their toes.
