Air ambulance lands after medical incident at Devon leisure centre

A person was rushed to hospital after suffering a suspected medical episode at a leisure centre in Tiverton. Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called to Exe Valley Leisure Centre on Bolham Road at around 8.30am this morning (Monday, November 25).

It has been confirmed that a land ambulance, an air ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, an operations officer and police officers rushed to the scene. The ambulance service said one person was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital by land ambulance.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 08:24hrs on Monday 25 November to an incident in Tiverton. We sent one double-crewed ambulance, an air ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and an operations officer to the scene. We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.”

Devon and Cornwall Police added: "Police were called to assist the ambulance service at Exe Valley Leisure Centre at around 8.30am today. It was reported that a person was suffering a suspected medical episode. They were taken to hospital in the care of paramedics."

Exe Valley Leisure Centre has been approached for comment.
