Torbay Hospital League of Friends raised £1,029 with its annual bed push, which saw participants pushing a hospital bed from the Grand Hotel along the seafront to the marina.

The event got off to a great start when, for the second consecutive year, Harbour Gifts and Antiques emptied its tips tin, contributing £84.47 to the collection bucket.

The next stop was the Offshore Bar and Restaurant, where staff and customers made generous donations.

The bed, adorned with a giant teddy bear, was pushed around the circular course three times by doctors, nurses, and League volunteers. Dave Rogers, Vice President and Special Events Coordinator, said: “Once again, the people of Torquay did us proud. It’s always one of our favourite events – especially when the sun shines. As well as filling our buckets with their loose change, holidaymakers and locals were very interested in the work we do. Despite cash becoming less common, the generous public dug deep into their pockets and bags to make the event a great success.”
