Prisoner recaptured after escaping from Waikato Hospital
· RNZA prisoner that escaped Waikato Hospital on Friday is back in police custody.
The prisoner had managed to break free from custodial staff during an offsite specialist medical appointment at the hospital.
Police were informed immediately about the incident about 12.30pm, and a search was then underway.
"A full operational review into the circumstances of the incident will be carried out," Spring Hill Corrections Facility general manager Scott Walker said.
"As the review will be ongoing, we are limited in the amount of information that we are able to provide at this stage."
