Search resumes for woman missing in Waipu River
· RNZA search for a woman missing near the mouth of the Waipu River in Northland has resumed on Saturday morning.
Emergency services were called about 12am after the woman's friends observed her entering the water but not returning.
Coastguard and Waipu Surf Life Saving assisted to conduct shoreline searches, however, the woman has not been found.
Coastguard Whangarei and Northland Coastguard Air Patrol are involved.
The initial search, supported by Waipu Cove Surf Life Saving Club and a rescue helicopter, continued until 3am on Saturday, Coastguard said in a statement on Saturday.
The search was due to resume about 8am this morning.
