Morrisons supermarket in Stirling is to get a new EV charging hub and jet wash bays under plans which will see almost 40 existing parking spaces removed.
Stirling Council planners have conditionally approved an application by Motor Fuel Group for a charging zone, EV chargers, canopy, jet wash bays, and related equipment in the supermarket’s car park at Springkerse Retail Park.
In their decision, the planners said: “The works will involve the removal of approximately 38 parking bays.
“The highest structure, the EV charging canopy, will be approximately 5.3 metres, extending 32 metres north west. The jet wash bay canopy will be approximately 3.5 metres in height, and measure approximately 14 metres in length. The jet wash bays are a total length of approximately 19 metres.
“Ancillary power supplies and utilities will be stored in standard type cabinetry, the largest of which is the substation, measuring 2.8 metres in length and width by 2.7 metres in height (approx).
“The area is characterised by various retail uses, including shops and various fast food drive through units. There are various auto-industry use classes within close proximity to the site - car rental, sales and repairs can be found along Kerse Road. The site is close to the A91, an arterial route which connects the east side of Stirling to the M9 to the south, and onward routes to St Andrews to the north east.”
