South Okanagan Similkameen Community Connections volunteers are being rewarded with the chance to enter a free draw for dollars towards a vacation.

The draw, which will see five lucky winners get a gift certificate to West Jet valued at $500, is a partnership with McLeod & Schneiderat Lawyers.

“We recognize the hard work and dedication of our local volunteers who make this community a place we are all proud to call home. We thank each and every one of you for your commitment to making Penticton one of the best places to live," reads a press release from Subrina Monteith, executive director of SOS Volunteer Centre.

Julius Bloomfield, mayor of Penticton, echoed similar thoughts.

“When assessing the vibrancy of a community the level of volunteerism is a great gauge and by that standard Penticton is simply incredible. The enthusiasm for big events and ensuring they go off smoothly is evident for all. Just as important is the work that’s done quietly behind the scenes, providing support to community members in a myriad of ways. The willingness to give back – in ways big and small – is vital to keep our community connected and we appreciate the work of all our volunteers and your organizations," he said, in the same press release.

All residents who are volunteers are eligible to enter once per organization that they have volunteered at during 2024 at www.volunteerceentre.info

To date, 800 entries have been received.

Five winners will be announced in mid-October. The deadline to enter is Oct.1.
