A new haemodialysis machine worth ₹7,49,500 was inaugurated at the Pachaiyammal Shanmugam Rota Fort TANKER Foundation Dialysis Unit in Vellore on November 25.

According to a press release from TANKER, the donation was made in memory of Madhavan and Kothai by M. Anantha Krishnan, who expressed his appreciation for the Foundation’s work in supporting kidney patients.

Kidney failure is a leading cause of death in India. Despite this, access to affordable treatment remains limited, particularly for underprivileged communities. TANKER (Tamilnadu Kidney Research) Foundation aims to bridge this gap by offering subsidised dialysis, financial support for treatments, and awareness programmes. The foundation operates 14 dialysis units across Tamil Nadu, including one in Vellore, which is supported by the Rotary Club of Vellore Fort and other donors.

Latha Kumaraswami, Managing Trustee of TANKER, highlighted that the new machine will provide much-needed care to the growing number of kidney patients in and around Vellore. Since its inception, TANKER has conducted over 716,549 dialysis sessions, benefiting nearly 900 patients.
